Two airlift medical helicopters were called to Bainbridge Island after injuries were reported in a multiple vehicle crash just after 6 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 305.
The three-car crash occurred on Highway 305 near Agatewood Road, just south of Agate Pass Bridge, and traffic on the highway was blocked as emergency responders assisted those involved.
Multiple aid cars, at least four police cars, and several other units from the Bainbridge Island Fire Department responded to the scene.
Initial details of the collision were few.
An air transport was set up near the Seabold Park-and-Ride, and a 26-year-old man who reportedly received head injuries in the crash was expected to be taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment.
A second helicopter was also expected to land at the Bainbridge Island Fire Department’s Station 21 to take a second person involved in the crash to a Seattle hospital.
Highway 305 was shut down in both directions after the crash, and a large amount of oil or fuel was also reported across the roadway.
