On Friday, the Kitsap Public Health District confirmed five more COVID-related deaths, bringing the countywide total to 328 since the pandemic began in March of 2020.
Details on the five most recent deaths have not yet been provided. Of the previous 323 deaths, 129 were ages 80 and older, 79 ages 70-79, 61 ages 60-69, 35 ages 50-59, 15 ages 40-49 and four ages 30-39.
Additionally, 28 new COVID cases were confirmed in the previous 24 hours, bringing the countywide total to 38,910 since the pandemic began.
Of the new cases, North Kitsap had four, and Bainbridge Island one; eight were in South Kitsap, seven in Bremerton; and six in Central Kitsap. Two of the cases came from “unknown” areas of the county.
Over the last week, the county’s case rate per 100,000 residents has dropped significantly to 61. To date, the number of Kitsap County residents who have initiated vaccination is 77.1%.
Of the 38,910 cases, 1,780 have been reported on Bainbridge Island, 10,372 in Bremerton, 8,982 in Central Kitsap, 5,898 in North Kitsap and 11,702 in South Kitsap. 176 cases have come from “unknown” areas of the county.
