Empact is coordinating with United Nations OCHA and World Health Organization to respond to the Ukraine refugee crisis and is working in tandem with a number of NGOs filling critical gaps.
If you are a medical provider and have a desire to help, Empact Northwest is looking for volunteers to help with humanitarian efforts taking place in Poland and Ukraine. They have a team in Poland finalizing details and getting permissions in order to start providing assistance and medical aid to the area.
Empact Northwest is planning for operations to last until August, and they need lots of help.
“We will likely need medical providers who are able to deploy to the Poland-Ukraine border,” Empact CEO Jake Gillanders said. “Interested physicians and nurses may volunteer for ten-day deployments and may register online to volunteer.”
Local volunteers will also be needed to help with logistics here and packing supplies that can’t be sourced in Poland.
“We’ll take any physician and nurse, they’ve got to have a sense of adventure. It’s not a vacation. It’s hard work,” Gillanders said. “Seven days on the ground with three days to travel. They’re sleeping in an apartment, but it’s a Soviet-era apartment. You know, it’s not a luxury Airbnb.”
