Bainbridge High School beat Kingston 12-2 in baseball Thursday.
Sophomore Kent Wisner started things off with a triple to centerfield then scored on a wild pitch. Connor Sweeny was hit by a pitch then stole second. JR Richie walked, then Sweeny scored on a wild pitch before sophomore Owen Browning walked. After a strikeout, catcher Breckin Hadley knocked in two runs with a hard-hit single before two outs ended the inning.
Junior Coco Black started things off in the next inning with a single and later came around the score. Wisner walked, Sweeny again was hit by a pitch, and Ritchie walked again, loading the bases. After a pop-up, Wisner scored on a wild pitch then Browning was hit by a pitch, again loading the bases.
Lavigne crushed the ball for an RBI sacrifice fly, scoring Sweeny. Hadley got his third RBI of the game with an infield single before Richie scored on a wild pitch. Designated hitter Joey Hildebrandt smacked a line drive over the centerfielder’s head for a two RBI double.
By the end of the second inning the Spartans led 11-1; they had just four hits to Kingston’s three. But they took advantage of three Kingston errors, along with the pitching woes of the Buc’s starter.
Lefty Tommy Lockyear was the winning pitcher.
In earlier games this season, the hard-throwing Richie, who is destined for UCLA, tossed a no hitter over six innings with 15 strikeouts as BHS blanked Lincoln of Seattle 1-0.
The Spartans also beat Chief Sealth 13-3. The highlight of that game was Richie grabbing a hard-hit shot up the middle and throwing out the runner at first base.
