Treehouse concerts; Winslow art classes

The Treehouse Cafe in Lynwood Center has two free and two ticketed concerts coming up.

Yvonne McAllister’s concert Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. is free, although donations are welcome.

McAllister is the Queen of Swing, having played the trumpet since she was 3. She has performed with such greats as Sophie Tucker at the Show Box in Seattle. She and sister Jobyna performed together as the Sirens of Swing.

Curtis Moore also will perform a free concert Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. His songs share life’s ups and downs in the genre of Americana, folk and rock.

Tickets are needed for the Griffin House concert Oct. 8 and Eileen Jewell Nov. 17.

Art classes

Meanwhile, Winslow Art Center is offering a number of classes.

Artists can discover specific art techniques in 1½ hour presentations combining lecture and demonstration. If you miss the live Zoom event, recordings are available for 60 days.

Mondays through Oct. 24: Palette knife painting deep dive, David Mensing.

Tuesdays through Oct. 18: Painting Nocturnes, Ben Hamburger.

Wednesdays through Oct. 26: Abstracting the landscape: The light of the land, Scott Gellatly.

Thursdays through Oct. 27: Limited palette and painting fundamentals, Bernard Dellario.

Mondays through Oct. 31: Landscape painting in the tonalist style, Mark Russell.

Thursdays through Nov. 3: The presence of flowers, Sarah Spackman

Thursdays Oct. 13 and Oct. 20: Exploring blues, Liz Prescott.

Tuesdays Oct. 18 through Nov. 8: Make it glow, Ingrid Christensen.

Wednesdays Oct. 19 through Nov. 16: Expressive and intuitive abstract painting, Debora Stewart.

Fridays Oct. 21 to Nov. 18: iPad drawing A to Z, Mark Daniel Nelson
