Marilyn A. Russell (Englund) died peacefully on September 17, 2022, after a year-long battle with cancer. As a Bainbridge Island, WA native, she was raised in the Pleasant Beach neighborhood and graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1957. She married Fred Russell in 1962 and they raised their eight children on the island, among various neighborhoods on the south end.
Marilyn’s love for the Mariners, Gonzaga basketball, knitting, reading, cribbage, bingo, gardening, camping, road trips, Neil Diamond, musicals, and the symphony was only outdone by the love for her husband of 53 years and her children. She was a devoted friend and Mom to many other children than her own and will be remembered for her sense of adventure, her kind heart, warm embrace and zest for life.
She is survived by her 8 children: Michael, Mary Jo, Cathryn, Patty, Scott, Cindy, Todd, and Sarah, 10 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, and a brother (Bill Englund).
Please join the family in a Celebration of Life on November 5, 2022 from 2pm-5pm, at the Ballard Elks Lodge, 6411 Seaview Ave NW, Seattle, WA.
