Cynthia Jean Lund, 61, died June 25, 2015, in a hospice facility in Atlanta, Georgia of colon cancer.

She was born Nov. 25, 1953 on Bainbridge Island to Frances and Ed Lund.

Cyn, as she was known to her friends, was a 1972 Bainbridge High School graduate.

Shortly after graduating, she moved to Reno, Nevada with her best friend and fellow BHS grad, Valerie Calhoun.

After working there for a few years, Cynthia returned to the Bainbridge area and opened a gift shop in downtown Poulsbo. Cynthia moved to Davenport, Iowa, in the ’90s and earned her CA certificate from Palmer College of Chiropractic.

After graduation, Cynthia worked for a short period at Palmer College before moving to Marietta, Georgia, to become the director of Auxiliary Services for Life University in Marietta. Life University is best known for its doctoral degree program in chiropractic. As director, Cynthia oversaw enterprises that supported the educational, social, cultural, and recreational interests of the university.

Growing up on the island, Cyn loved horseback riding and showing her horse at local horse shows. She loved all animals and enjoyed owning a number of dogs. She was an avid reader and read anything she could get her hands on. Cyn loved traveling and made a point of exploring a new city every year for Thanksgiving.

Cyn was the life of the party with a smile, laugh and a positive energy that could light up any room. Always a Bainbridge girl, she visited the island yearly and was the center of a traditional party thrown by her close friends known as “CynFest.” She looked forward to moving back to the island after her retirement.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother. She is survived by her stepfather, Bud Griffin of Bainbridge Island.
