Kingston 4th of July fireworks back on; alternate vendor found

Merchandise, donations, fundraiser to help with cost

After losing its preferred firework vendor earlier this year and not knowing if they were going to be able to provide a community display, the Kingston 4th of July Committee has found an alternative.

They will “put on a world-class fireworks show,” chairman Tony Clark said in a statement. “They say it ‘takes a village’ and when it comes to the community of Kingston, they are not wrong. So many people reached out to us with suggestions and contacts to see if we could find a way to provide the entertainment and activities that our community has come to love and enjoy.”

Although there will be a fireworks show, the cost of putting it on has increased significantly, Clark said. To combat the prices, Kingston 4th of July buttons and t-shirts will be on sale at local businesses such as Clever/Lucky Star Clothing, Henery Hardware, Borrowed Kitchen Bakery and Downpour Brewing.

There will also be donation jars at those businesses, along with at the ARCO gas station. Donations can also be made on the event’s website and Facebook page.

On June 8, a fundraiser will be held at Westside Pizza from 4-8 p.m. A portion of the sales will go toward fireworks. “Please do what you can to support this event,” Clark said. “Without your financial assistance, these shows are not possible.”

The Kingston 4th will encompass two days — July 3 and 4 — since the holiday falls on a Tuesday. There will be Music in the Park, food trucks, a Beer and Spirits Garden, the Ball Race, Tiny Town, the parade down Highway 104 and more. The schedule of activities is as follows:
