The Bainbridge Island Kiwanis Club’s annual All Comers Track Meet has completed five of the six meets it is hosting this summer.
The meets are held at the Woodward Middle School track on Sportsman Club Road each Monday at 6 p.m., with registration beginning at 5:30. The remaining meet is Aug. 14.
The meet starts with the Jogger’s Mile for all ages, with participants predicting their times. That is followed by races of various distances based on the ages of the competitors. The hurdle races for young children are a favorite of parents and observers.
There are no entrance fees, and ribbons and other awards will be presented following the final meet. Times and names of the three top finishers of all events throughout the six nights are recorded to determine the overall winners.
Club president Hank Keaton receives many comments from parents and participants who say the event is fun for the entire family, and he invites islanders to come to the final meet.
