Untold stories
Two of the Bainbridge Island Museum of Arts Untold Stories Series are coming.
For invited artists, Tariqa Waters of the Martyr Sauce Pop Art Museum and Jake Prendez of the Nepantla Cultural Arts Gallery building community is an integral part of making art. They will talk about the synergy of artists, art and activism.
That event will be Aug. 18 at 7 p.m.
On Aug. 19 at the same time, invited artists Tatiana Garmendia, Nikki Jabbora-Barber and Carina del Rosario will talk about their experiences as Artists of Color, the impact of their ethnicities on how their art is perceived and what influences their creation of art.
Tickets to both are $5 for members, $6 for non-members at www.eventbrite.com
Call for artists
Regional artists are invited to apply through Aug. 23 for the 40th annual Winter Studio Tour on Bainbridge Island.
The tour is scheduled for Dec. 1-3 and takes place at various artists’ studios and community halls around BI.
The tour is a juried art show, seeking professional work, designed and crafted by the artist, with original designs, and quality craftsmanship. Artwork should portray the “hand and spirit of the artist.” Artists do not have to live on BI or own a studio.
For application forms go to the “For Artists” page on the Studio Tour website: www.bistudiotour.com. For details, contact tour manager Dinah Satterwhite at 206-842-0504 or info@bistudiotour.com.

Correction
The final All Comer’s Track meet on Bainbridge Island of the season is Aug. 14. An article with photos last week gave the wrong date.
