The man arrested at gunpoint in front of the Rooster Cafe in late March was released back on parole last week.

Adam Carter, 29, pleaded not guilty in Bainbridge Island Municipal Court last week to an earlier incident of resisting arrest. The incident occurred on Bainbridge Island on Jan. 3.

During a court hearing April 2, Judge Kathryn Carruthers found Carter guilty of obstruction and resisting arrest for the earlier incident.

The judge dismissed new charges that Carter was facing — for malicious mischief and resisting arrest — that stemmed from an incident where he led Bainbridge police on a chase through downtown Winslow on March 20.

Carter was arrested at gunpoint in front of the Rooster Cafe after a lengthy pursuit. Carter, a former Bainbridge resident who told police he was now living in Federal Way, was taken into custody on three outstanding warrants.

Carter was sentenced to 90 days in jail for the Jan. 3 incident. He was given credit for 12 days he had been in jail and the remaining 78 days were suspended, providing Carter complies with the terms of his two-year probation and does not get in further trouble with the law.

He was also fined $1,000, with $400 of the fine suspended.
