To the editor:
What a day! The KiDiMu Birthday Bash on June 7 could not have been more perfect.
Thanks to the sponsorship of Key Bank, KiDiMu hosted nearly 300 people, some coming from as far away as Fort Lewis. The sun was shining and the celebration was filled with fun and laughter. KiDiMu wants to thank everyone who came, participated, entertained, and supported the event in any way.
Special thanks go to: the Bainbridge Island police and fire departments for bringing a police car and fire truck to the event. Families had a wonderful time climbing in for an up close and personal look around; Vanasse Studios for the extra-special keepsakes of free family portraits; and to Bainbridge Bakers for its special Kids’ Menu and custom KiDiMu cookies.
We would also like to thank the wonderful entertainers who delighted visitors with their talents: the energetic and engaging Aunty Lucy and her guitar for starting things off with a toe-tapping sing-along; Roberto the Magnificent for his jokes, juggling and crazy unicycle antics; Toymaker Rick Hartman for his inventive spirit, handmade toys and stories from around the world; and Isaac Petersen, the Reptile Man, for sharing facts and stories about the fascinating animals he brought with him. Adults and children alike were thrilled to touch and hold Rocky the Cuban Iguana, Lumpy the Alligator, and the rest of the crazy reptile crew; and to Lance Irvin from Big Blue Sound for coordinating and running the sound equipment all day long.
And finally, thank you to all the volunteers who helped set up, clean up and paint faces throughout the day. We appreciate your time and talents tremendously.
Thanks again to everyone for an amazing day of community celebration. See you again next year!
