Body found
The Bainbridge Island Police Department Marine 8 unit recovered the body of a man from the water off Rockaway Beach Oct. 20, a police news release says.
The man has been identified as 53-year-old John W. Searle of Pioneer Square in Seattle, the release says.
The body was discovered between the shoreline and Blakely Rock. Rockaway Beach is located on the southeast side of BI.
The Kitsap County Medical Examiner’s Office will examine the body to determine cause of death.

Blues concerts
Chicago Blues guitarist Keith Scott is returning to Bainbridge Island for two concerts in November.
The first will be Nov. 5 at Eleven Winery at 2 p.m.
The other will be Nov. 12 at Eagle Harbor Winery, also at 2 p.m.
Scott is a regular performer at The House of Blues in Chicago and recently returned from tours in Australia and Canada.
Benefit show
Bethany Lutheran Church of Bainbridge will host The Better Than Average? Variety Show Nov. 4 to benefit World Central Kitchen.
Snacks will be served at 6 p.m. with music, comedy, poetry and dancing to follow in a cabaret setting. Admission is a free-will offering.
World Central Kitchen is a non-political charity serving meals to victims of war and natural disasters. Most recently, they were in Lahaina following destruction of that Hawaiian city by fire. Currently, they are serving meals to families affected by the Israeli-Palestinian crisis.
Open House
An Open House on alternatives for the Winslow Subarea Plan will take place Nov. 9 from 6-8 p.m. at City Hall.
The city’s planning commission is hosting.
Horror author
John Saul, the master of horror who has penned 37 New York Times best-sellers, will be in Poulsbo Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. at The Jewel Box Theatre.
Saul has been published in over 35 countries and several of his books have been made into TV films. This year he received the Bram Stoker Lifetime Achievement Award from the Horror Writers of America.
Saul, 80, in a rare public appearance, will share his stories, triumphs, challenges and wit.
He will be joined on stage by friend and thriller writer Kevin O’Brien, of Seattle.

Art show
Linocut artist Adrienne Wolfe is exhibiting at the Verksted Gallery in Poulsbo during November.
Her medium is linocut prints on fabric, such as kitchen towels, and framed prints. Wolfe calls herself an artist, maker, and crafter. “One of the reasons that I am so drawn to linocut printing is that it incorporates every one of these characteristics. After being inspired to create an original image, then comes the skilled craftsmanship of carving my creation into linoleum and giving it life. Lastly, the print-making process allows me to mix colors, choose materials, and then carefully make each original block print.” This combination of skills is a fun way to share her designs that are taken from flora and fauna and things in her immediate environment. Even hiking brings ideas back to the table, though she loves to add a little whimsy to most of her designs.
The gallery features 29 artists with original, hand-crafted work.
