The Bainbridge Spartans girls swim team finished seventh at 3A state last weekend with 119 points, while powerhouse Mercer Island won with 314 points, its second-consecutive state title.
Maya Geddes, Uma Pal, Piper Majors and Sara Kreigh had the best finish for the Spartans, placing fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1 minutes, 39.28 seconds.
In the 400 free relay, the Spartans placed fifth with Geddes, Majors, Kathryn Houseman and Kreigh in 3:39.05.
The Spartans 200 medley team of Houseman, Lena Everett, Emma Atchison and Pal ended up seventh in 1:56.48.
The best individual finish for BHS was Kreigh placing sixth in the 100 butterfly in 57.58, while Houseman was 16th.
Kathryn Houseman, Uma Pal, Piper Majors and Sara Kriegh finished fourth in the 200 freestyle while Sara Kreigh finished 14th. Emma Atchison finished 15th in the 200-individual medley.
Pal finished 12th in the 50 free, while Maya Geddes did not compete due to illness.
In the 100 free, Majors was 12th and Paul 16th
Houseman finished 16th in the 100 backstroke with Olivia Longridge 20th. Everett, in the 100 breaststroke, finished 19th.
The same relay squad finished fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Central Kitsap’s Aziza Meyer placed third at state in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.85 seconds. Teammate Haley Borja was ninth in 58.04.
Meyer returned in the 100 breaststroke and finished fifth in 1:05.75.
Borja returned in the 100 backstroke, finishing seventh in 58.03.
North Kitsap finished 3rd in 2A at state with 159 points.
The Vikings excelled in the relays with the 200-yard free relay winning the state championship in 1 minute, 41.56 seconds. On that team were Ashley Husmoe, Tiffany Le, Audrey Crossgrove and Shosho McLain.
Those same four combined to take the silver medal in the 200 medley relay in 1:54.84.
McLain stood out individually, placing second in the 50 free in 24.38 seconds and fifth in the 100 free in 55.56. Crossgrove finished 19th in the 50 free.
Le placed fifth in 1:03.22 in the 100 backstroke.
Husmoe placed eighth in the 200 free in 2:04.25, with teammate Izzy Cera finishing 17th. Husmoe in the 500 free again finished eighth in 5:40.53. Nadia Barry placed 24th.
Le, Barry, Natalie Ramey and Eden Parry finished 10th in 4:04.87 in the 400 free relay.
Crossgrove and Cera finished 14th and 16th in the 100 breaststroke.
Viking diver Jane Leithead finished 17th.
Bremerton’s Gabbi Patti won her second straight 50-yard freestyle state title in 24.22 seconds. Patti also finished second in the 100 free with a time of 52.89.
Patti, Avari Harmon, Iris Morris and Atti Cabato competed in the 200 free relay and was 15th. In the 200 medley relay it was 18th.
Kingston’s Lilia Manges reached the finals in the 50-yard freestyle. She finished 15th in 26.54 seconds. Also, Manges finished 10th with 57.87 in the 100 free.
Olympic’s Jasmyn Coviello placed ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1 minute, 14.66 seconds. She was also 17th in the 100 butterfly.
Klahowya’s Yulia Farmer placed ninth in 1A in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 25.55 seconds and 56.52.
In the 200 free relay, Maggie Keenan, Nora Giro, Farmer and Kaiya Pasternak was 10th in 1 minute, 50.99 seconds. It was also 20th in the 200 medley relay.
