The criminal behavior of a 48-year-old Bremerton woman allegedly extends far beyond the borders of Kitsap County, say court documents provided in the case of multiple residential burglaries stemming from a post office break-in.

In-county police had been on the lookout for the suspect since Oct. 15, the day Kitsap deputies responded to a burglary at the Olalla Post Office. They found a broken window used for entry, safes were cut open, and packages and their contents were either damaged or missing.

Among the items taken were mail hold cards, which are utilized in postal service to let mail carriers know that residents will be gone and want their mail held for a period of time. Information from those cards was used to burglarize four residencies in the days following. A fifth burglary was attempted Oct. 16 but was thwarted when the suspect realized the couple living at the home had returned.

Police later discovered a stolen vehicle out of Mason County linked to the previous crimes. Serving a search warrant, officials say stolen items belonging to multiple residents were recovered, as well as stolen mail from several Olalla residents. Break-in tools were discovered, as well as receipts that led to the finding of surveillance footage of the suspect.

Police served a search warrant at her residence Nov. 8; she was arrested and more stolen items were discovered.

The arrest ended a longer hunt for the woman across multiple jurisdictions including Jefferson County, where a similar string of break-ins and burglaries occurred, including the Brinnon Post Office. The car used in those crimes is believed to be the same.

The suspect also has active cases in Clallam and Thurston counties, and now faces dozens of felony charges, prosecutors say. Bail was set at $25,000 in Kitsap Superior Court Nov. 9.
