The two women found in Port Orchard Nov. 19 died from homicide and suicide.
The Kitsap County Medical Examiner’s Office in a release Nov. 23 identified the two as Lilith C. Stewart, 47, and Kaylynn Hawkins, 41.
Hawkins died of homicide with a gunshot wound to the head. Stewart died of suicide, also with a gunshot wound to the head.
Deputies were called to the 5000 block of SE Safe Haven Way in Port Orchard at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 19 to investigate a call made from a neighbor. The caller said that she had not seen her neighbors for over a month.
Two deputies gained entry into the house and a bedroom and found the bodies of two women lying across a bed. A pistol found in one woman’s hand, and a statement from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office describes the bodies as “in advanced states of decomposition.”
