It was busy Jan. 10 with the mixing of swim teams across Kitsap County.
Since Bainbridge’s home meet against Port Angeles was canceled the week before, the Spartans traveled to the North Kitsap Community Pool to face the Roughriders and Kingston. In addition, North Kitsap traveled south to face Olympic in its recently renovated pool.
The Spartans kicked off the day with a 124-44 victory against Port Angeles, followed by a 129-47 victory over Kingston.
Bainbridge and Kingston
Although the score was lopsided, the teams battled for the top spots in each event.
Spartans’ Ryan Rich, Eddie Nakhuda, Ian Letson and Rylan Hopp won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1 minute, 49.64 seconds. Kingston’s Josh VanHuis, Tyler Chamberlain, Zachary Cummings and Noah Simontov finished second in 1:54.77.
In the 200 free, Spartan Sota Inoue won in 1:54.58, Hayden Ludwig finished second in 2:01 and Cummings third in 2:02.04.
Letson won the 200 individual medley in 2:09.85, VanHuis finished second in 2:16.79 and Bainbridge’s Beckett Lipton third in 2:24.61.
20 swimmers competed in the 50 free. Spartan Robbie Nakhuda led the pack in 22.70 seconds, Elias Dean finished second in 22.78 and Hopp third in 24.27.
Kingston’s Jude Hamilton was the only diver, claiming first with 113.90 points.
Bainbridge swept the 100 butterfly and freestyle races.
In the butterfly, Eddie Nakhuda won in 56.35 seconds, Robbie Nakhuda finished second in 57.74 and Leo Soboil third in 1:08.35.
In the freestyle, Dean won in 50.67, Letson finished second in 54.16 and Hopp third with 55.77.
VanHuis won the 500 free, finishing in 5:16.49. RJ Rossart and Bradley Roloff finished second and third with times of 5:44.10 and 5:52.69.
The Nakhuda brothers teamed up with Rich and Dean to win the 200-free relay in 1:35.62.
Bainbridge earned its final sweep in the 100 backstroke. Inoue won in 58.85, Lipton finished second in 1:07.79 and Roloff third in 1:12.65.
Eddie Nakhuda won the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.43, Cummings finished second in 1:04.99 and Zachary Shields third in 1:20.50.
In the final event, Robbie Nakhuda, Inoue, Letson and Dean won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:28.50.
North Kitsap vs. Olympic
In the North Kitsap meet, the Vikings won 11 of the 12 events against Olympic.
Justin Anderson, Max Nolan, Levi McClain and Andrew Gyllenstein won the 200 medley relay in 1:51.85. Olympic’s Tavyn Shelton, Sawyer Adams, Kaleb Chappell and Jerrick Castillo finished second in 1:57.60.
Viking Henry Maxwell won the 200 free in 2:02.40, Trojan Caleb Davis finished second in 2:23.83, and Viking Conner Parrett finished third in 2:35.81.
Anderson won the 200 individual medley in 2:30.65 while Mayou finished second in 2:50.43.
In the 50 free, Adams won in 24.18, Nolan finished second in 25.53 and Olympic’s Jackson DeBritz finished third in 26.99.
Nolan notched a win in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.40, while Olympic’s Trenton Crandall and Castillo finished second and third with times of 1:12.37 and 1:18.80.
McClain won the 100 free in 52.53, Viking Asher Lesco finished second in 1:07.87 and Davis third in 1:09.09.
Maxwell won the 500 free with a time of 5:44.96, Shelton finished second in 5:49.80 and Adams third in 5:51.79.
In the 200 free relay, Maxwell, Nolan, Mayou and Lesco won in 1:46.62. Olympic’s Selah Steinke, Christopher Kylven, Crandall and DeBritz finished second in 2:00.58.
In the 100 backstroke, McClain won in 1:02.97, Anderson finished second in 1:04.42 and Shelton third in 1:09.24.
Mayou won the 100 breaststroke in 1:23.06, Wallace finished second in 1:34.15 and Strong third in 1:40.98.
McClain, Gyllenstein, Anderson and Maxwell won the 400 free relay in 3:56.
