Bainbridge beat both teams and Olympic also beat the home team in the boys and girls competitions at the first track meet of the season at Kingston March 21.
Bainbridge boys defeated Kingston 119-26 and Olympic 94-51 while Olympic defeated Kingston 114-29.
The Spartans swept the short sprints. In the 100-meter dash, Spartan Max Fitzgerlad won in 11.94 seconds. Teammates Rowan Meek and Robert Cockburn finished second and third. Meek won the 200 meters in 23.99 seconds, Fitzgerald finished second and Cockburn third.
Kingston won both longer sprint races. In the 400 meters, Kingston’s Zachary Cummings won in 54.58, Olympic’s Casey Stephen finished second and Joshua Turner finished third. Kingston’s Luke Whalen won the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 5.3 seconds. Bainbridge’s Arlo Lisieski finished second and Olympic’s Caleb Davis third.
The Bucs also won both of the longer races. In the 1600 meters, Kingston’s Lucas Lenz won in 4:27.28. Spartan Ben Crandall finished second and Olympic’s Samuel Bonsell third. Lenz also won the 3200 meters in 9:53.60, Spartan Ignacio Lloren finished second and Bonsell third.
Bainbridge won both hurdle events. Spartan Isaiah Beyers won the 110 hurdles in 17.38, Olympic’s Cavelle Elmore finished second and Spartan Eli Brouwer third. They finished in the same order in the 300 hurdles, with the winning time 44.78.
In the relays, Bainbridge’s Nathaniel Owen, Meek, Fitzgerald and Cockburn won the 4 by 100 meters in 46.19 seconds. Olympic finished second. Kingston’s Edward Baker, Lenz, Whalen and Cummings won the 4×400 relay in 3:45.38. Olympic finished second and Bainbridge third.
In the field events, Olympic swept the shot put with Aaron LeBlanc first with a throw of 39 feet, 6.5 inches, DeQuan Freeland second and Sawyer Williams third.
Spartans Matthew Grant won the discus with 125-07 while Jack Grant finished second and Trojan Kevin Hudson third. In the javelin, the Spartans swept with Brad LeVine first with 142-5, Alex Bullman second and Matthew Grant third.
The Spartans swept the high jump and pole vault. In the high jump, Amare Clark won at 5 feet, 8 inches with Owen second and Robert Dunn Smith third. In the pole vault, Yafei Shou and Isaac Ellis tied for first at 13 feet and Jonas Michael was third.
In the long jump, the Trojans swept with Chance Webster first at 18-1.5, Rico Cooper second and Malachi Hampton third. In the triple jump, Clallam Bay’s William Hull won at 37-1.5. It was a non-league meet for that team, as it is not in the Olympic League. Spartans Jonas Michael finished second and Gabriel Bradley third.
Girls track
Bainbridge defeated Kingston 98-46 and Olympic 79-61, while Olympic defeated Kingston 69-62.
Olympic won both sprint races. In the 100 meters, Olympic’s Mia Talarico won in 13.15 seconds. Kingston’s Mia Kate Collins finished second and Spartan Ella McRitchie third. Talarico also won the 200 meters in 27.34 while Spartan Cate Torrell finished second and Trojan Savannah Mitchell third.
Kingston’s Olivia McGrew won the 400 meters in 1:02.81, Collins finished second and Mitchell third in 1:09.01. Spartan Cara Brundige won the 800 meters in 2:34.61, Trojan Brynn Fulton finished second and Kingston’s Emmie McGrew third.
Bainbridge won both longer races. In the 1600, Spartans Mairin O’Brien won in 5:41.46 with Evelyn Shutske second and Savai Esarey third. In the 3200, Spartans Elise Gonzales won in 13:07.56 and Hailey McCulloch finished second with Kingston’s Sophia Brown third.
Spartan Claire Hungerford won both hurdle races. She won the 100 in 16.05, Buc Leighton Menge finished second and Trojan Annelise Banta finished third. In the 300 hurdles, Hungerford won in 46.96 and Spartan Sabine Hartenstine finished second.
Spartans Laine Romney, Hungerford, Torrell and McRitchie won the 4×100 relay in 51.89. Kingston finished second. In the 4×200, Bainbridge’s Arden De Lanoy, Romney, Mercy James and Torrell won in 1:50.50 and Olympic finished second. Kingston’s McGrew, Ollie Tietje, Ariana Forbes-Prater and Olivia McGrew won the 4×400 relay in 4:33.12. Olympic finished second and Bainbridge third.
In the field events, Olympic’s Anne Rittenbach won both the shot put and discus. She won the shot put with 24-9, Trojan Jailiah Blair finished second and Spartan Adelae Roa third. In the discus, Rittenbach won with a 66-7, Roa finished second and Trojan Elena Matthew third. Kingston’s Analee McDonald won the javelin with 71-03, Trojan Georgia Derito finished second and Spartan Miya Hanson third.
In the high jump, Hartenstine won with a 4-8, Kingston’s Natalie Morse finished second and Olympic’s Sarah Sutton third. In the long jump, Olympic’s Leila Ryan Ross won with 14-4. Trojan Olivia Jackson finished third. Kingston’s Hannah Weaver won the triple jump at 28-10.25.
