To the editor:

I must admit to being astounded upon exiting the ferry the other evening having unavoidably been a party to the conversation behind us, wherein a woman was explaining to her friend that she lived at Meadowmeer.

She went on to say how they needed to get more non-golfers on the board so they could close down the course and turn it into a park.

I must admit I do not understand the thinking around moving to a golf course community and then attempting to remove the enjoyment of many others who visit the course. Apparently there are a few who would further suggest this; there is a 90-acre park five minutes from Meadowmeer and many others throughout the city.

I would suggest moving even closer to one of these rather than engage in efforts to rob islanders of the only local public golf.
