Bainbridge qualifies for state golf as a team

Bainbridge boys golf will head to state as a team after finishing fourth with 317 strokes in the district tournament.

Spartan Dane Byers finished third with a score of 73, Andrew Grinter 17th with a 79, Andrew Jobes 24th with an 81, Anderson Wicklund 31st with an 84 and Rainer Richardson 37th with an 86.

The 3A girls qualifying match took place May 13-14 while the boys teed off May 15-16.

In the girls division, the top eight teams and 16 individuals qualify for state.

Since Bainbridge finished seventh with 778 strokes, the Spartans will head to state as a squad.

In addition, Central Kitsap’s Courtney Yee finished second with a score of 178 over two days.

South Kitsap’s boys golf team will return to state at the 4A level as a team for the first time since 2018 after finishing seventh at the district tourney May 15 with a score of 646 strokes.

Individually, Raymond Jennings finished 20th with a score of 157 over the 36 holes. Connor Fentress finished 23rd at 159, Alexzander Moore 30th at 163, and Kaden Thompson and Daniel Stone both tied for 47th with scores of 174.

The 2A golf district tournament took place May 14 and the top six boys and five girls earned berths to the state tournament.

Bremerton’s Jackson Fletcher finished fourth with an 84 while Olympic’s Noah Shaw is the second alternate with an 87.

For the girls, Trojan Chelsea Bevan finished third in the girls division.
