Bail was set at $250,000 for a 19-year-old man charged with rape.
The Ellensburg man was in Kitsap County Superior Court Sept. 12, arrested on a warrant from June 20. He faces life in prison and a $50,000 fine.
Court papers say Bremerton police responded to Driftwood Street at 4 p.m. Feb. 12. The mother of the victim said the sexual assault took place two years prior. The mother was dating the father of the suspect. The suspect was 15 and the victim 9 at the time. The daughter had bruises on her so the father and son were kicked out. The mom said it wasn’t reported because the daughter has autism and wasn’t able to at the time.
The daughter had a sleepover in February, and the mom overheard one of the girls say, “You need to tell an adult.” The mom asked what they were talking about, and that’s when the victim told her for the first time she had been raped. She said the bruises years earlier came from when the suspect dragged her down to the basement for the sexual assault. He said he’d kill her if she told, and that’s why she waited so long to tell anyone. In police interviews, they were told the suspect had admitted the crime to them. The suspect moved to Ellensburg, thus the delay in the arrest.
Child rape
A 27-year-old Bremerton man was arrested on a warrant and in Superior Court Sept. 13 with bail set at $200,000 for third-degree child rape.
He faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Court records say Kitsap deputies responded to Anderson Hill Road SW in Port Orchard June 7. The 14-year-old victim’s mother said the suspect gave the daughter and her siblings a ride home after a party June 2. With her parents gone, the suspect shoved the victim into a bedroom and locked the door, before raping her despite her saying “no” and “stop.” The parents were not told what happened at the time. Afterward, he stayed and watched a movie with her sister. He ended up staying the night, sleeping on the couch.
Escapee caught
A 28-year-old Everett man who previously escaped from custody was in Kitsap County Superior Court Sept. 9 facing three charges.
Violation of a court order felony assault carries a maximum of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Fourth-degree assault and obstructing a law enforcement officer each carry a one year jail sentence and $5,000 fines.
Court records say Poulsbo police responded Sept. 6 to the 600 block of NE Lincoln Road at 10:04 p.m. Things were being thrown out of a car, and people were yelling. A witness said the suspect was hitting the suspect over a $250 pair of shoes. The caller did not contact police right away because she has a child with the suspect, who was in the car with them.
The caller said the suspect was wanted for escaping community custody by the state Department of Corrections for assault with a weapon. When officers arrived the suspect was hiding in vegetation. Officers used a white light and night vision in the search.
The suspect stood out in the gated retirement community due to his age and only wearing one shoe. He escaped from one officer and lost a white sneaker. The officer realized he couldn’t catch him so others were called to help. The suspect jumped over a fence, but it was an enclosed retention pond, so police were able to surround and apprehend him.
Assault over nude photos
A 26-year-old Poulsbo woman was in Superior Court Sept. 9 charged with second-degree assault with a deadly weapon.
She faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court records say Kitsap deputies went to the NE Silver Spring Lanes in Poulsbo at 6:52 p.m. Sept. 6. The victim said the suspect was in her vehicle and hit him on purpose. The victim said they had been arguing for days after he found out she had sent another man nude photos of herself. The woman also had a warrant out for her arrest.

She said her daughter recently died and she is ill, and recently was granted custody of her grandson, which upset the suspect. She and the suspect do have a child together. She said he had been staying in recovery homes. The suspect has a full extradition warrant out of Illinois for burglary.
Hit and run
A 43-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court Sept. 10 charged with injury hit and run.
He faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Court records show Port Orchard police responded to an accident at Cathie Avenue and Bethel Road SE at 5:12 p.m. Sept. 9. The suspect ran a stop sign, hitting another vehicle. A witness followed the suspect car, but was told by police to let them handle it. The victim said he was injured by an airbag. The victim also tried to follow, but his car became inoperable.
The suspect vehicle was finally located and its front end was damaged and had black paint from the victim’s vehicle at an urgent care facility. The man admitted the incident, but said he didn’t realize it was a four-way stop. He said he didn’t exchange information with the victim because he thought insurance would take care of it. He was taken to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale because he couldn’t be admitted to the jail with an injury. He said he was planning to move to Samoa with his girlfriend and had only been in this state for a short time.
