As part of the second annual Bainbridge Island Volunteer Week, the city of Bainbridge Island and the Bainbridge Community Foundation will co-host two free training opportunities focused on volunteer management and engagement.
Both sessions will be held in the council chambers at city hall and are open to the public.
The first meeting, “Brown Bag Lunch: Legal Tools for Effective Volunteer Programs,” is noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 and will be hosted by John Fossett of the Bainbridge Public Library. Yolanka Wulff of Apex Law Group will give the presentation.
The second session is “Engaging Volunteers Across Generations,” from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, and hosted by Susie Burdick, executive director of the Kids Discovery Museum.
The two trainings are being offered as a complementary activity to the Volunteer Week Celebration planned for Thursday, April 16 in the Bainbridge High School Commons.
“Volunteer Week is about celebrating and supporting the work of our community’s volunteers,” said Jim Hopper, executive director of the Bainbridge Community Foundation. “These free trainings are one way that the city and BCF are able to support volunteer activities on Bainbridge Island in a meaningful and tangible way.”
