Bainbridge Senior Living was founded by Don Roose as a family-run business on Bainbridge Island in 1991, with an eye to bringing a unique approach to senior care.
Today providing independent living, assisted living, respite care and memory care, it spans four locations and is led by Roose’s daughter, Morgan Rohrbach, maintaining its commitment to community-focused, family-oriented care.
“Being family-owned makes a difference,” says Carrie Chavez, Community Relations Director. “We’re not just serving residents, we are also building relationships with their families and the community”
The focus on family and community permeates Bainbridge Senior Living’s approach. Chavez describes moments when adult children, previously unable to take a break, regain freedom through the organization’s support.
“One client, caring for her father, hadn’t taken a vacation in years. Now, with our help, she’s able to plan two months in Europe,” she shares.
Beyond individual families, Bainbridge Senior Living actively contributes to the Bainbridge Island community. They help sponsor various programs and lend their bus for non-profit fundraising events such as those hosted by BARN and the Puget Sound Restoration Fund. They also hire local teens for their first jobs as servers in the dining room.
“We are both a senior living provider and a resource to the Bainbridge community,” Chavez explains.
Senior living, the way you want it
Each of Bainbridge Senior Living’s locations has a distinct feel. Madison House, for example, offers cozy, hotel-like living in downtown Winslow, while Madrona House offers a coffee and wine bar, concierge services, and a specialized memory care neighborhood as well.
Wyatt House offers a country living ambiance close to downtown, with concierge services including transportation with their newly acquired electric Nissan Leaf. The Winslow Manor offers independent living with community dinners, in a beautiful, quiet, walkable downtown location.
“What I love most is seeing the friendships and connections that blossom here,” Chavez says. “These seniors continue to lead active, fulfilling lives and it’s wonderful to witness.”
In addition to long-term residency, Bainbridge Senior Living offers a unique service known as ‘respite care,’ designed for short-term stays.
“We offer fully furnished apartments for people who need temporary accommodations and care, allowing their families the relief of knowing their loved ones are safe while they travel, or recuperate” Chavez explains. This service addresses a critical need for many families, particularly those caring for aging parents.
