Not Trump
To the editor:
After hearing too often Trump complaining about the fraudulent election, the enemy within destroying this country, criminal immigrants eating our cats and dogs and poisoning the blood of our country, I long for honesty and civility.
I am tired of vulgar locker room talk, false promises (Trump being the “protector of women”), retribution threats and vile insults of political opponents such as Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi. But I am horrified that Trump gets away with calling President Biden “crooked Joe,” and Vice President Harris a “s**t vice president.” That must be the ultimate low in any presidential campaign.
Doesn’t the voter deserve some respect? Where is Trump’s red line? And, how on earth does he get away with calling our dead veterans suckers and losers, glorifying Putin and claiming, “Hitler did some good”?
I want a president who looks out for me, for the welfare of my family, friends, neighbors—or folks of every political stripe in every state, and, yes, for the lowly paid immigrants who do the heavy lifting and dirty work. I want a president I can trust. A president who has a soul, who is competent and honest. Spreads decency. Respected worldwide. Not a narcissist who thrives on flattery and adoration.
The candidate of my choice should have principles and morals that are close to the principles and morals most citizens cherish. Does Trump qualify?
