A 40-year-old Bainbridge Island man was in Superior Court Dec. 30 charged with first-degree theft of a golf cart.
He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court records say Bainbridge police responded June 13, 2023 at 11:50 a.m. to a report of a golf cart being stolen from Meadowmeer Golf Course. Video shows a man getting into a $10,000 cart and driving the wrong direction. A U-Haul was in the parking lot. Police were able to identify the suspect from the video.
The suspect was seen in court Feb. 22. An officer told him he wanted to talk to him about the stolen cart. The suspect said he didn’t know anything about it, but would return for an interview. He did not show up. On March 20, it was learned he had sold the cart for $1,250 after putting it on Offerup.com
BI man stayed in home without permission
A 40-year-old Bainbridge Island man was in Kitsap County Superior Court Dec. 30, 2024, charged with residential burglary.
Bail was $51,000. He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court documents say Bainbridge police responded Dec. 29 at 12:47 p.m. to the 5700 block of NE Old Mill Road. Neighbors called the homeowner and said there was a white truck in the driveway when no one should have been there.
The suspect told police he was given permission to stay there. The homeowner said he left a spare set of keys in some boots by an exterior door. Police found no keys there, but they were on the suspect.
BI burglars couldn’t take what they wanted
A 46-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court Jan. 2 charged with residential burglary.
A 24-year-old Poulsbo woman also was in Superior Court charged with the same crime.
His bail was $50,000. Her bail was $62,000. They both face 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court papers show Bainbridge police responded Jan. 1 at 2:31 p.m. to the 14100 block of Komedal Road NE in Bainbridge Island. The reporting parties said two people were taking stuff out of the residence. The suspect said someone told him he could come to the house and take whatever he wanted. A female suspect had IDs for two other women. She said she found them outside of a bowling alley. Meth and a glass pipe also were found. JC Penny and AT&T cards also were recovered.
Escape try from courthouse fails
A 24-year-old Port Orchard man was in Superior Court Dec. 31 charged with second-degree escape.
Bail was $50,000. He faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Court papers show that on Dec. 10 at 3:15 p.m. an inmate finished his arraignment and was returning to the jury box in courtroom 212 when he suddenly turned, ran behind the counsel tables and towards the back of the room. When an officer blocked the exit, the suspect ran into the jury room and then into the Drug Court office. It was dark so officers waited. The suspect then ran into the judge’s chambers. The officer drew his taser and started down the hallway after the suspect. He ran into an office and tried to kick out a window. The officer deployed his taser, and the suspect surrendered.
Woman runs away in towel and shower cap
A 41-year-old Poulsbo man was in Superior Court Dec. 31 charged with unlawful imprisonment and assault.
He faces at least six years in prison and $15,000 in fines.
Court papers show Kitsap deputies responded Dec. 30 at 8:27 p.m. to the 16800 block of Lark Lane NW in Poulsbo. Five callers said a woman was running down Viking Way NW with only a towel and shower cap on. She said her boyfriend of a year had restrained her from leaving his residence after they argued. She said he shoved her and threw her to the ground multiple times, and also put a chokehold on her that she was able to fight her way out of. She had to bite him to get away.
Inmate back in court, had drugs in jail
A 54-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court Dec. 31 for possessing drugs in a local jail.
He faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
A corrections officer May 14 at 4:20 p.m. was told by a nurse that an inmate told her that another inmate had drugs in the facility. The unit was put into lockdown and the inmate scanned. The suspect had a plastic bag of meth in his waistband. The inmate was strip-searched but no other drugs were found. The inmate apologized profusely and stated he is fighting addiction and struggling with sobriety. No drugs were found in his cell.
No brotherly love in this family
A 37-year-old Port Orchard man was in Superior Court Dec. 30 facing a charge of second-degree assault strangulation domestic violence.
He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court documents show Kitsap deputies responded Dec. 26 to Long Lake Road SE for a fight between brothers.
Their sister said she was sleeping when she heard her 9-year-old daughter screaming for one brother to get off the other. One was choking the other while he was sitting in a recliner. She could not pull him off. Their mother said the attack was caused by one calling the other a name.
Port Orchard man points gun at 3
A 20-year-old Port Orchard man was in Superior Court Jan. 2 arrested on a warrant facing three charges.
Bail was $75,000. He faces three charges of assault with a deadly weapon (10 years in prison, $20,000 fine maximum each).
Court papers show Port Orchard police responded to the 1000 block of Sydney Avenue in Port Orchard at 1:31 p.m. Oct. 18. The suspect intervened during a confrontation, pointing a gun at three people and threatening to shoot them.
Poulsbo trailer damaged by Port Orchard man
A 31-year-old Port Orchard man was in Superior Court Dec. 31 charged with second-degree malicious mischief.
Bail was $100,000. He faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Court documents show Poulsbo police responded Dec. 30 at 5:20 a.m. to the intersection of Vetter Road NE and NW Cooperation Way. A suspect was trying to break into a Sunset moving trailer. He said he was protecting the trailer from being stolen.
In the suspect’s vehicle police saw drug paraphernalia, knives, flashlights, hand tools, a grinder and bolt cutters. A trailer hitch was found cut in half. Screws from a trailer door had been removed. The trailer owner came and said there was about $2,000 in damage.
Pair in trailer take 2 weapons
A 26-year-old Port Orchard man was in Superior Court Jan. 6 arrested on a warrant charging him with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.
Bail was $50,000. He faces 20 years in prison and $40,000 in fines.
Court documents show Kitsap deputies responded Nov. 1 to the 10200 block of Yates Lane NW after a residence was burglarized. Two suspects were allowed to stay in a trailer and use the residence bathroom. The homeowner’s daughter reported the house was in shambles. The pair started to move into the home. One suspect, a convicted felon, took nine rifles out of the homeowner’s safe. They were recovered but two pistols were missing.
Kingston woman arrested for burglary
A 28-year-old Kingston woman was set to be in Superior Court Jan. 6 charged with second-degree burglary and arrested on a warrant from December 2023.
Bail was $150,000. She faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court papers show Bremerton police responded June 2, 2023 at 1:01 p.m. to the 3600 block of Pine Road in Bremerton. Folks were squatting on unfinished houses. Drugs were found. Glass had been broken to gain entry. At booking, a suspect swallowed some fentanyl powder.
Man arrested for eluding, drove 107 in 35 mph zone
Bail was set at $250,000 for a 51-year-old Port Angeles man facing three counts in Superior Court Jan. 6 after driving 107 miles per hour in a 35-mph zone.
He’s charged with attempting to elude (5 years in prison, $10,000 fine maximum); driving under the influence; and driving without an ignition lock (each 1 year, $5,000).
Court documents say Kitsap deputies responded Jan. 3 at 2:59 p.m. to the 2500 block of Beach Drive East in Port Orchard. Radar tracked him at 107 miles per hour in a 35-mph speed zone. He drove recklessly then stopped at his mother’s house and tried to flee inside. He failed sobriety tests before asking for an attorney. A partially consumed bottle of liquor was seen in his pickup.
