Guests are urged to wear their vintage finest to the opening of a new exhibit, “Vintage Apparel from the Louise Mills Collection,” at the historical museum, 215 Eriksen Ave.

From there, guests will mosey over to BPA for a wine and hors d’oevres reception followed by a showing of Stephen Stolee’s film tribute, “A Portrait of Louise.”

At 8:30 p.m., a sampling of the many vintage apparel collected by Louise will be modeled followed by community offerings of singing, poetry and music. Admission is by donation.

Louise Mills (1922-2009), was a well-known Bainbridge Island and Kitsap County supporter, promoter, producer and fan of music, fashion and the performing arts. During the 60 years of her dedication to local arts and culture, her efforts led to the founding of Bainbridge Performing Arts as well as Island Theatre.

She raised money for cultural nonprofits as diverse Bainbridge Light Opera to Seattle Art Museum, stimulated the appreciation of vintage fashions, and inspired three generations of her friends and acquaintances to take to the stage to share their talents with the community.
