Downtown restaurants are dishing up special deals for islanders out for a weekday bite and islanders have only one more week to take advantage.
“We sincerely hope that the Island embraces this initial effort by their favorite local restaurants,” said Lee Jorgenson, owner of San Carlos Restaurant.
“Specialty food courses, creative new offerings, promotional pricing, something for everyone; we hope to see islanders out and about at the first ever Dine Local Downtown,” Jorgenson said.
Organized by the Bainbridge Island Downtown Association, the promotion encourages islanders to support their local restaurants during the week when the tourist traffic is light.
“This is your chance to experience what everyone else in the region is talking about — our incredible local restaurant scene,” said Downtown Association executive director Andrea Mackin.
Thirteen restaurants along Winslow Way, lower Madison Avenue and near the waterfront are offering special three-course dinners for $28 per person. Some restaurants also have a special three-course lunch for $15 as well. The promotion runs Sunday through Thursday, March 25-29.
The first reviews have been positive.
“Last night was the first night; we weren’t sure how it would go but dinner time was a pretty good for a Sunday night,” said Michelle Williams, general manager of Doc’s Marina Grill on Madison Avenue.
Like other participating establishments, Doc’s lined up a special menu for the promotion, including a prime rib dish they generally only offer on Fridays and Saturdays. The grill is also offering the lunch promotion. The menu for Doc’s Dine Local promotion is posted on their Facebook page.
