Sunday, June 28
7:57 p.m. Police were called to the parking lot of a downtown grocery store for a possible drug violation. A witness had told police about a man in a vehicle with a syringe in his mouth and a tourniquet on his arm.
When an officer arrived, he found a Ford Ranger pickup parked in the lot with clothes hanging off the back of the truck.
Police questioned the driver, a 27-year-old Poulsbo man, and discovered a syringe that appeared to contain heroin next to the man’s right foot.
The man also had injection marks all over his hands and arms, and his hands were extremely swollen.
When the man was asked to step out of the truck, a plastic bag fell out. Police determined the syringe contained 1.08 grams of tar heroin, and the bag contained .94 grams of tar heroin.
The man was booked into Kitsap County Jail for possession of a controlled substance and bail was set at $20,000.
Saturday, June 27
2:40 p.m. A 59-year-old Lynnwood man in a 2003 Toyota pickup was driving north on Highway 305 in heavy traffic when he made a U-turn.
He was hit from behind by a 34-year-old Poulsbo woman in a 2004 Chrysler Sebring, who said she tried to brake but could not stop in time.
Police discovered the woman had a suspended license and did not have insurance. She was cited.
