To the editor:

I suggest that we need no law to govern to what kind of bag we use to carry home groceries.

Why? Let me count the ways.

Bags are a very small part of the overall plastic load.

Many people, including myself, either use them again for various things or save them and deliver them back to the grocery stores.

Many people have reusable grocery bags, and more could be educated by the dedicated environmentalists to get them.

With our city in debt, the council somewhat dysfunctional, the police department under suspicion, and the roads crumbling, I believe there are far more important issues with which to deal.

One forward-looking grocery store is already offering larger, stronger, reusable bags and gives a refund for any reused bag.

We really can get along with far less government intrusion into our lives.

What’s next, toilet paper size restrictions?
