Another 575 votes have been counted between Mike Spence and Dale Perry, and Spence’s lead continues to grow in the only contested school board race on Bainbridge Island this November.

The Kitsap County Elections Division updated its vote tally in the race late Friday, and Spence now leads with 57.4 percent of the vote, up from 57.2 percent in the previous vote count.

Perry, who was hoping to oust the incumbent from his District 2 position on the school board, has 42.3 percent of the vote.

Spence has 4,410 votes, and Perry, 3,250. There were 19 write-in ballots submitted in the race.

The Kitsap County Election Division has said its next vote tally will be released on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Three seats on the Bainbridge Island School Board were up for grabs this year, but the Spence-Perry race was the only contested battle. It was the first school board race on Bainbridge Island with two candidates in 12 years.

Mev Hobert ran unopposed to retain her District 3 position on the school board.

Sheila Jakubik ran unopposed for the District 5 seat.
