BAINBRIDGE – Registration for the 36th Annual Bainbridge Youth Services (BYS) July Fourth Fun Run is off and running.
The family-friendly running event has long been a beloved beginning to the downtown holiday festivities and includes a 1-mile run/walk starting at 9 a.m., a 5K run/walk starting at 9:15 a.m. and a “Kids Dash” on Winslow Green (at the corner of Madison Ave. and Winslow Way) at 10:30 a.m.
Early registration is encouraged, and all ages and abilities are welcome.
All proceeds go to BYS, which for more than 50 years has been a cornerstone in the community, offering free and confidential counseling, scholarships and job services to youth and teens from ages 12 to 19.
“Our ability to directly serve youth annually with 1,400 hours of free counseling would not be possible without the wonderful partnership between the sponsors and runners who support BYS and the services that so many youth and their families depend upon each year,” said Ann Livengood, BYS board president.
The Fun Run T-shirts feature artwork this year by Bainbridge High School sophomore Matthew Derry, winner of the 2015 Fun Run Art contest.
Second- and third-place winners, respectively, were freshman Jillian Ran and junior Rylee Dutton.

Preregistration fee for the 5K and the one mile race is $25 with an optional T-shirt, while supplies last. The Kids Dash preregistration fee is $5 with T-shirt, while supplies last.
