Bainbridge Arts & Crafts presents "Intimate Construction: Furniture from the Northwest" through Oct. 28.

Bainbridge Arts & Crafts presents “Intimate Construction: Furniture from the Northwest” through Oct. 28.

See furniture from an entirely new angle. This talented roster of Northwest wood artists, curated by Bainbridge Islander Aaron Levine, uses both traditional and unexpected materials to translate modern utilitarian needs into objects of uncommon beauty.

Artists include Curtis Erpelding, David Gray, Hank Holzer, Aaron Levine, Brett MacLearnsberry, Hugh Montgomery, Seth Rolland, Jay T. Scott, Robert Spangler and Stewart Wurtz.

Also at BAC in October, the work of Scott Allen.

The carved and rolling landscapes of Allen’s native Eastern Washington stomping ground made an indelible mark on the Bainbridge artist and architect, what he terms a “deeply-branded visual memory” that permeates his paintings. His colors, textures, and structures, which emerge from both his memory and his imagination, could easily find a home in our dreams.

An opening reception is 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 4 during the First Friday Art Walk.

In conjunction with his October exhibition, Allen will demonstrate his landscape painting techniques in a free demonstration at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at BAC.

Bainbridge Arts & Crafts is at 151 Winslow Way East.
