She has since passed the licensing exam for a Washington license and is currently employed by ATI Physical Therapy on Mercer Island.

In addition to her studies, she spent three weeks volunteering with two other students to train local community members in basic physical therapy methods at St. Gabriel Hospital in Malawi, Africa, lead by UOP Professor

Dr. Casey Nesbitt. She hopes to return to Malawi as a volunteer in the future.

Samstag’s inspiration to become a licensed physical therapist came from 11 years of gymnastics team participation with the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District and BHS girls gymnastics team.

She is the daughter of Jeanette Alexander and Randal Samstag.
