Thursday, April 9

4:20 p.m. A 68-year-old man on Agate Pass Road said someone had driven through his side yard and damaged the landscaping that had just been put in at a cost of more than $7,500.

Police found ruts across the yard and determined the damage had been done with malicious intent.

The damage was estimated at $1,500.

6:09 p.m. A 27-year-old Bremerton woman reported a hit-and-run accident on Highway 305 near Seabold Road.

The woman said she was driving south on the highway when a black pickup truck started to turn from Seabold Road onto the highway.

She slowed down and the truck slowed down, and she thought the truck driver was going to wait until she passed but turned in front of her and she hit the rear of the truck. She pulled over onto the shoulder but the other driver kept going.

Wednesday, April 8

9:21 a.m. A 47-year-old Bainbridge woman was charged with third-degree theft after she was found shoplifting at Safeway.

A manager said he had watched her for some time and suspected her of shoplifting.

The manager saw the woman put merchandise in her cart and go through the self-checkout line. He said she would pay for certain items and not for others, while making it appear she was paying for everything.

In this case, he said she did not pay for 8.76 pounds of tomatoes valued at $13.05

The woman did not disagree when confronted. She was issued a summons for theft and removed from the store.
