Friday, Aug. 2

8:23 p.m. A window on a police car was shattered by a small rock. Upon further investigation, it appeared that a worker cutting grass nearby had likely sent the rock flying with a weed whacker or lawnmower.

Saturday, Aug. 3

3:33 p.m. A Sunrise Drive man reported the theft of a gate and post. He believed a neighbor who was disputing their property line was responsible. Despite an agreement between the two property owners signed in 1998, the neighbor recently approached the man saying he wanted “his property back.” The neighbor admitted to police to taking the gate and post. He told police that it was a civil matter, not a police matter, and that he recently passed his exams and was sworn in as a criminal attorney. The neighbor agreed to return the items, but not to put them back up. He said if they were put back up, he would sue.

6:53 p.m. A man on Upper Farms Road reported that someone jumped his fence and stole the head from a deer-shaped archery target. The deer was valued at $250.

9:01 p.m. Police responded to a domestic dispute on the north end of the island where a couple were loudly arguing. The argument began when the boyfriend chased the girlfriend with a crab earlier that day. She told officers he was being annoying and a verbal dispute grew from there.
