Stepping into the American Legion Hall on Bucklin Hill Road NE is like traveling back in time for several decades. (The structure was part of barracks building No. 62 in Fort Ward and was moved to its present site in 1950). Combine that with a chance to see a Lionel train set-up, another blast from the past, and it was an easy decision to stop by on a recent Saturday afternoon. Ron Luke, chief operating engineer of model trains, expressed thanks to all the parents, grandparents, seniors, kids and veterans “for making our first electric train show an extremely joyful event.” And, there was lots of talk about doing it again next year.
