BHS Math Club sends four to state tourney

The Bainbridge High Math Club recently sent two teams to compete in the Washington State Math Championship district math tournament at Klahowya High.

The Bainbridge High Math Club recently sent two teams to compete in the Washington State Math Championship district math tournament at Klahowya High.

Both Spartan teams qualified for the state tournament in Yakima. The team of junior Keet Curtis and sophomore Tarkan Al-Kazily finished second overall in the Team Problem and tied for first with the other BHS team in the Team Topical event. The other Bainbridge team consisted of freshman Sophie Carson and junior Jacob Reiter, who along with a first-place tie in the Team Topical event, also won third place in the Team Problem competition.

Sophie also earned second place in the Mental Math Knowdown event and qualified for state as an individual.
