Suyematsu Award honors Friends of the Farm | Letters | May 21

Thank you to everyone who participated in last Sunday’s annual meeting with Friends of the Farms.

More than 100 people gathered at Suyematsu/Bentryn Farm to honor Akio Suyematsu and enjoy a potluck dinner amidst our beautiful island farmland.

The Akio Suyematsu Award will be given annually by Friends of the Farms to recognize outstanding commitment to island farming and farmland in the tradition of Mr. Suyematsu.

Friends of the Farms invites you to learn more about your local farmers and farmland. Our island is blessed with over 60 acres of public farmland and a cadre of farmers growing local, delicious food for us.

This farming community represents the past, present and future agricultural heritage of our island. Our organization is working to manage our existing public farmland and preserve additional land.
