Bainbridge Police reported the following incidents:

SEPTEMBER 6

1:43 a.m. A Toyota sedan was stopped on SR-305 near Reitan Road for driving with a broken tail light. The officer noted the smell of alcohol as he discussed the tail light with the driver, a Bainbridge minor. The minor explained that he was driving home from a birthday party where he had drunk “a couple” of beers. The driver blew a 0.041 on a breath alcohol test. He advised the officer that there were several empty beer cans and bottles in a bag in the car. He was arrested as an intoxicated minor and given a ride home.

10:44 p.m. A motorist driving northbound on SR-305 reported that he was following a possible drunk driver. The suspect vehicle was a small black car that had reportedly run three red lights. An officer in a patrol car caught up to the suspect vehicle and observed it weaving in its lane. The car was pulled over near Hidden Cove Road and its driver was contacted along with her husband, who was riding in the passenger seat. The woman said they had been celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary in Seattle and were now on their way home to Port Angeles. The woman seemed oblivious to her erratic driving and appeared intoxicated. She agreed to a breath test and field sobriety tests, which she performed poorly on. She was arrested for driving under the influence. A search of her person turned up several pills that she said were Percocet. After being booked into Kitsap County Jail, a corrections officer found four other pills on her peson including Vicodin and Neurontin. The woman claimed to have prescriptions for the pills but did not have their required containers. The pills were checked into evidence.

SEPTEMBER 7

3:04 p.m. Bainbridge Fire Department personnel found an Apple laptop computer on the side of Day Road east of SR-305. The screen of laptop was damaged and non-functional. The computer was booked into storage for safekeeping.

SEPTEMBER 8

1:26 a.m. An officer observed a vehicle driving erratically southbound on SR-305 just past the bridge. The car was swerving, changing speeds and did not activate its headlights until it was off the bridge. The car was stopped and its driver was contacted. A strong smell of alcohol emanated from the vehicle and the driver, a Bellevue man, appeared intoxicated. It took the driver 30 seconds to put the vehicle into park as he was trying to push the shift lever sideways rather than forward. He could not find registration or insurance information but handed the officer paperwork for a no-contact order saying the officer would “hear about it anyway.” The man refused sobriety tests and was arrested for driving under the influence. As the man was loaded into the patrol car the officer informed him that he would be driven to jail in Port Orchard. The man said he hated Port Orchard and as they drove through Poulsbo the man mistook it for Port Orchard and asked the officer why he was still going. He repeated the statement as they drove through Bremerton. He was booked into Kitsap County Jail on $10,000 bail. A records check showed the man had a previous drunk driving conviction in Seattle.

6:32 a.m. A South Beach resident reported that his boat had been stolen off its private mooring buoy overnight. The boat was a 28-foot Glacier Bay catamaran with blue hulls. The Coast Guard was notified. No suspects.

9:21 a.m. A citizen called police concerned that a suspicious person who had been parked at Rotary Park for hours might be waiting for school children to arrive at a bus stop. The man, Sequim resident, was evasive when questioned by police, but moved along after repeated requests.

12:57 p.m. Police station staff found a license plate in the station parking lot. It was registered to a Parfitt Way resident but a phone number for the owner could not be found. The plate was placed in storage for safekeeping.

4:13 p.m. A Lewis Place resident that reported two rear tires of his truck were flat and he suspected malicious mischief. He had also found a pink granular material near his gas cap fill hole, which his children had identified as strawberry Nesquik powder. The man said he had recently found out that a friend of his son had been selling his son alcohol, and he had discussed the matter with the friend’s mother. He said the friend could be a suspect and would contact police when he knew more.

SEPTEMBER 9

12:35 a.m. A Bainbridge woman and a Poulsbo man were arrested for possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia as well as warrants on Agatewood Road. An officer stopped the pair after observing them driving suspiciously in a pickup truck. A records check showed they had outstanding warrants. A K-9 unit was called in to sniff the cab. The K-9 found a small amount of marijuana lying loose behind the seat, and alerted to a purse, a wallet and a cell phone on the seat and center console. The woman gave officers permission to search her purse and it was found to contain two syringes, a small digital scale with white powder residue and a Ziploc bag containing a white crystalline substance. The man admitted that the cell phone was his. Both were arrested and booked into jail. The white substance later tested positive for methamphetamine.

6:26 p.m. A Bainbridge man admitted to taking a phone from his daughter and breaking it on the floor to keep her from calling 911. The incident followed a dispute over the girl not doing her homework. A report was forwarded to prosecutors for possible charging.
