And speaking of community, our online Community Calendar has received a major upgrade. The system is powered by Trumba, the same software used by the Smithsonian, The New York Times, and locally, the Seattle Seahawks – and even closer to home, Kitsap Regional Library. It’s feature-rich and user-friendly. We’ve added a dedicated “Calendar” tab on the menu bar, right after news.

You can view the calendar in a variety of formats; search for specific events, such as all KiDiMu happenings, or filter by category, such as “sports” or “classes and lectures.” A new map feature shows events locations. You can forward information about events to your smart phone or desktop calendar, get updates on changes to specific events, or get a weekly feed sent. You can share events via email, Facebook, Twitter and Linked In.

If you’d like to add an event, you’ll be pleasantly surprised: There’s no need for a password. You can add an image, post recurring events and even spread the news to other Sound papers.
