Nighttime drivers traveling in both directions on Highway 16 across the Tacoma Narrows Bridges should plan for lane closures two nights this week for bridge and toll equipment maintenance.
At 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 21 and Thursday, May 22, toll plaza crews will close the on-ramp from 24th Street Northwest to eastbound Highway 16. Two hours later at 10 p.m., crews will close all of the eastbound Good To Go! electronic toll lanes.
The eastbound lanes and the 24th Street Northwest on-ramp to eastbound Highway 16 will reopen by 5 a.m. each following morning.
During the closures all vehicles will be detoured through the toll booths, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
Also at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Olympic Region bridge maintenance crews will close three left lanes of westbound Highway 16 across the 1950 Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
During the closures, work crews will remove and replace broken concrete abutting an expansion joint on the west end of the bridge.
All westbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Friday, May 23.
