Bainbridge Police reported the following incidents:

Feb. 18

7:40 p.m. Police arrested a man they found on the street outside a bar for disorderly conduct after he swore at officers and failed to cooperate.

Police found the man lying on the ground and bleeding from his face outside a bar on Winslow Way. Several patrons told police he had yelled at them inside the bar.

When officers began talking to him, he failed to answer questions, only responding by making sputtering noises and swearing. Officers warned him he could be arrested for disorderly conduct if he continued to act this way.

The man then began swearing and punching a brick wall outside the bar. Police handcuffed the man and took him to Harrison Medical Center, as they believed he was well over .25 blood-alcohol content limit the jail would accept.

The man passed out almost immediately in the police car, but when they got to the hospital he again became combative. Medical personnel put him in restraints to treat him.

He was cited for disorderly conduct and released.

Feb. 19

9:04 a.m. A resident reported her purse stolen from her home.

She told police she keeps her purse in the entryway to her house. There is an outer wooden door that leads to the entry, the sides of which are made of glass. The outer door is normally locked, but it must have been unlocked the night before, she said.

Police could find no signs of forced entry.

She described her purse as a red leather handbag. Inside she had a black wallet with $150 cash, credit and debit cards, driver’s license and ORCA Pass.

The woman had no suspect information. She reported the loss of her debit and credit cards to her bank.

6:04 p.m. Bainbridge Island School District reported a possible theft from a concession stand inside BHS.

A school janitor told police as he was going through the hallways by the gym, he saw two boys take off running. He started yelling at the boys but didn’t give chase.

The janitor grabbed the door to a nearby concession stand and it opened. Two more boys walked out of the stand. The janitor asked them what they were doing, but the boys didn’t answer. He told them he needed their names. The boys gave the janitor their names and then ran off. He again did not give chase but called 911 instead.

Police couldn’t determine if the kids took anything from the concession stand. They searched the surrounding area but could not locate the boys.

Feb. 22

5:51 p.m. Several people called 911 to report an empty stroller left on the shoulder of State Route 305 and Winslow Way.

When officers arrived, no one was around and a check of the area revealed nothing. Officers could see stroller tracks in the trail from Ericksen Avenue to the highway. The stroller was taken to the Day Road facility for safe keeping.

Feb. 23

3:36 p.m. A resident reported his credit card had been used fraudulently.

The man showed police a statement indicating that he bought gas on Feb. 22 in Kingston. He said he actually purchased the gas Feb. 19, which was verified by receipts. He wasn’t sure why there was a date discrepancy, but he was told by representatives of his bank that his card had been declined several times, but a charge of $486.69 was accepted. That charge had been forgiven.

The man said he didn’t use that gas station often, and he suspected since the activity occurred immediately following the transaction on the 19th that thieves placed card scanners at the gas station.

He said the card was never out of his possession, and he does not make online or phone purchases.

Police have no suspects.
