The Spartans finished their regular season gymnastic meets at home with a narrow defeat to North Kitsap.
The Vikings eked out the win, outscoring Bainbridge 155.45 points to the Spartan’s 154.7.
Kingston finished third with 139.75 points.
The Vikings broke the Spartans’ long-running undefeated streak at home — where Bainbridge has gone unbeaten since 2000 — with a strong showing from Chloe Seforos.
Seforos, a freshman, took first in the vault, first on the floor and was second in all-around points.
Still, the Spartans were satisfied with their final home meet in the Metro League. Bainbridge Coach Cindy Guy said the team met multiple goals they had set for themselves.
“We had a good meet. Our goal was 154,” Guy said.
“We also achieved our goal of six or more stick beam routines. We had seven,” she said.
The team’s point total was also the highest of the season.
To celebrate, Guy brought the team hot fudge sundaes to a practice last week and they “toasted” the team with the treats.
Bainbridge claimed second place at their final meet with high scores from Sarah Rice, Marielle Summers and Miller Shor.
In the vault, Rice claimed second place with a score of 9.2. Summers tied for third with Shor with a score of 8.4.
The Viking’s Seforos was first, with 9.4.
Rice placed first in the bars, with 8.0.
Lizzy Garcia of Kingston was second with 7.15, and D’Anne Davidson of North Kitsap was third with 6.75.
Bainbridge won the top two spots on the beam.
Rice was first (9.05) and Summers was just behind in second (9.0)
Seforos won third place for the Vikings (8.8).
On the floor, Seforos had another first-place finish for North Kitsap with 8.95.
Rice won second place (8.85) and Summers won third (8.7).
In all-around scores, Rice again finished first for Bainbridge Island, with a score of 35.1.
Seforos took second place for the Vikings (33.65), and Summers (32.2) snagged third place for Bainbridge.
In junior varsity action during the Spartans’ finale, other BHS gymnasts also wrapped up the season with impressive performances.
Yesenia DeLuna took first place in the vault (8.60) and third place on bars (7.70).
Nanna Bo Christensen earned third place in the vault (8.35), was second in floor exercise (7.40), and fourth in all-around (29.50).
Lydia Dobsen placed sixth on beam (7.30) and fifth in floor (7.30) for the Spartans.
Sarah Collins finished in fifth place in the vault with a score of 8.30, and Haley Green was 10th in bars with 7.10.
Several Spartans also fared well at the Metro All Comers meet at West Seattle High on Jan. 26.
In vault, Christensen won second place for Bainbridge with a score of 7.10.
Collins was third with a score of 6.70, while Yesenia DeLuna finished fourth for BHS with 6.6.
Christensen also placed sixth with an all-around tally of 19.60.
