The ferry MV Puyallup was pulled from service on the Bainbridge Island-Seattle route for repairs late Sunday and travelers can expect long waits at the terminals on the island and in Seattle.
Washington State Ferries reported the mechanical problems just before 7 p.m. Sunday.
WSF said the Puyallup would be out of service until further notice, and said the 7:20 p.m. sailing from Seattle and the 8:10 p.m. sailing from Bainbridge were canceled.
The Bainbridge route is now on one-boat service.
WSF said travelers leaving Bainbridge could expect a two-hour wait Sunday night.
It’s been a troubled Sunday for the Puyallup.
WSF initially noted just before 5:30 p.m. Feb. 22 the ferry was running behind schedule by nearly 30 minutes due to heavy traffic, then WSF said less than a half hour later that the ship was “delayed until further notice due to operational constraints.”
