Bainbridge police arrested a 26-year-old woman for being a fugitive from justice wanted by authorities in Louisiana Tuesday after she asked for the police’s help in retrieving her children from her former home on High School Road.

Police agreed to stand by as the woman and an acquaintance went to the home the afternoon of Tuesday, May 11, as the woman was afraid the children’s father would be angry when they arrived.

When they arrived to pick up the children, however, the father told police that their mother was wanted on an arrest warrant in Louisiana. Police checked and found the woman was wanted on a full-extradition warrant for failing to appear in court on a burglary charge.

The woman was arrested and taken to Kitsap County Jail.
