Bainbridge Community Foundation announces grant winners

The Bainbridge Community Foundation has named the 2016 recipients of its Capacity Building Grants Program, which helps nonprofits serve the community more effectively by increasing their internal capacity to function as stronger, more efficient organizations.

The Bainbridge Community Foundation has named the 2016 recipients of its Capacity Building Grants Program, which helps nonprofits serve the community more effectively by increasing their internal capacity to function as stronger, more efficient organizations.

Grants are awarded to committed organizations doing meaningful work to fund improvements in board and staff development in the areas of administration, governance, planning and fundraising.

The awardees are Bainbridge Island Land Trust, the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, Bainbridge Island Special Needs Foundation, Friends of the Farm and YWCA of Kitsap County.

Bainbridge Island Land Trust will use the funding ($1,000) to update its strategic plan, budget and work plan to align with its newly-acquired Land Trust Alliance Certification and related accreditation standards.

The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art will use the funding ($1,500) to create a three-year strategic plan to build the museum’s sustainability.

Bainbridge Island Special Needs Foundation will use the funding ($1,500) to hire a consultant to assist with board recruitment, fundraising and strategic planning.

Friends of the Farms will use the funding ($1,500) to develop a stronger, more efficient business model and to empower board, staff and volunteers to build partnerships, increase charitable contributions and develop deeper relationships within the community.

YWCA of Kitsap County will use the funding to create a long-term strategic plan and work plan that reflects the culture of the nonprofit’s new leadership.
