The Traveler, Bainbridge’s destination store for travel guides, maps, luggage, travel accessories and clothing, has relocated to 256 Winslow Way East, directly across the street from the shop’s old location.
“The opportunity to move from 1,200 square feet to over 3,300 square feet in the former Paper Products space was too good to pass up,” said co-owner Barbara Tolliver.
The expanded Traveler will offer a greater selection of merchandise, including a new kids and family travel section.
The owners also have plans to hold language classes and special presentations – on how to pack, volunteer vacations, art and cultural appreciation, for example – in addition to continuing their monthly travelogue series and partnership with Bainbridge Public Library.
The store will host a grand opening from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. There will be refreshments, prize drawings, and manufacturer demos.
The Traveler was established in 1995 by Susan Taylor and Barbara Tolliver, both long-time expats – they’ve lived in Columbia, Mexico, Italy and England – with backgrounds in the travel industry and public library administration. For 20 years, their mission has been to inspire a love of travel, foster understanding of other cultures and build relationships of mutual support with customers.
The store can be reached at 206-842-4578.
