The BPA Gallery’s exhibit — “The Full Monkey” — will be on display throughout the month of May and will run concurrent with BPA’s production of “The Full Monty,” a heartfelt and timely tale of a community that comes together during economic hardship and follows their dreams.
Sally Jo Martine showcases a character-based medley of hand-crafted sock monkeys, and each monkey bares their soul in celebration of their own “personhood.” These one-of-a-kind originals come to life somewhere between their body parts and fashion accessories. Each monkey has their own story, yet they share a common purpose – to bring joy into the lives of others.
The BPA Gallery opens the exhibit with a public reception for the artist at the First Fridays Art Walk, 5 to 7 p.m. May 4. Regular gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday plus one hour prior to each performance.
