Ants.
They’re all over Bainbridge High School — from the commons and classrooms in the 200 Building to the lunch area and classrooms in the 100 Building.
The Bainbridge Island School District announced Friday that the ant infestation, which officials called “significant,” has prompted plans to use pesticide at the high school over spring break.
Spring break starts Monday, and district officials said the pesticides Terro PC and Niban FG will be used from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 2 in an attempt to get rid of the insects.
Extermination Services, a company based in Port Orchard, will be used for the work.
Officials said the pesticide application will follow the school district’s integrated pest management policies and procedures.
House ants have been found in the commons in rooms 207, 208 and 204 of the 200 Building, and in the BYS restrooms, lunch area and rooms 101, 102 and 104 of the 100 Building.
