Helpers needed at Johnson Farm

From 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, Friends of the Farms will host a work party to prepare the city-owned Johnson Farm for the upcoming Harvest Fair at the end of September.

The island’s annual Harvest Fair is nearly a month away, but it’s going to take some hard work to make it happen.

From 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, Friends of the Farms will host a work party to prepare the city-owned Johnson Farm for the upcoming Harvest Fair at the end of September.

The annual Harvest Fair on Bainbridge Island attracts more than 3,000 people who enjoy tractor rides, sheep shearing, horse-drawn carriages and more. But before the Harvest Fair, the farm must be prepared for the event. At the work party on Saturday, volunteers will help cut grass, prune plants and pull weeds.

A farm-fresh lunch will be offered for those contributing their sweat and time to the effort. Volunteers are asked to bring along any weed eaters, rakes, pruning tools and gloves they can use.
